Job Summary
The position of Director, Hockey Operations/Governance includes managing AHL Central Registry and Board of Governors’ work, in addition to various hockey operations responsibilities. This position will work directly with the President & CEO on Board of Governors duties and will report to the Executive Vice President, Hockey Operations for all other responsibilities.

Job Responsibilities/General Functions
AHL Central Registry Management
·        Act as liaison between NHL Central Registry and the Professional Hockey Players Association, including compiling and distributing daily transaction reports. 
·        Manage AHL/PHPA Health and Welfare program and accompanying player transaction audits.
·        Approve and process all player transactions, including, but not limited to: AHL Standard Players’ Contracts and Professional and Amateur Try-Out Agreements, trades, loans, and reassignments. 
·        Review all player transactions on the online transaction system and check for accuracy daily.
·        Provide guidance to teams in entering transactions into the online transactions system and troubleshooting as needed.
·        Maintain AHL Reserve List on a weekly basis and distribute to Teams, Professional Hockey Players’ Association, and NHL.
·        Compile and approve Player Lists for accuracy and League-wide distribution throughout the season (Training Camp Rosters, Opening Day Rosters, Clear Day Lists).
·        Manage AHL Waiver Process (By-Law 26).
·        Communicate and enforce AHL Critical Dates pursuant to AHL By-Laws and Regulations.
·        Serve as clearinghouse for AHL player eligibility.
·        Provide regular team servicing to all levels of NHL and AHL Club Hockey Operations’ staff members relative to player eligibility, veteran status determination, and central registry processes. 
 
Serve as League Secretary and Manage League Governance
·        Manage all correspondence and confidential communication with AHL Board of Governors and League senior management personnel.
·        Plan, execute, and attend quarterly Board of Governors Meetings and Special meetings as needed.
  • o   Secure meeting space and location, organize logistics and book vendors
  • o   Prepare all meeting agendas with the President & CEO
  • o   Prepare and distribute additional materials as necessary
·        Coordinate Executive Committee meetings quarterly and as needed by the President & CEO.
·        Coordinate the planning and execution of the Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors with the Vice President, Marketing & Licensing.
·        Complete and distribute all meeting minutes.
·        Maintain the AHL Governing Instruments documents.
  • o   Distribute updates and corrections as needed
  • o   Provide interpretation as needed
·        Maintain AHL Board of Governors databases and Member Club Records.
  • o   Email lists
  • o   Franchise folders
  • o   Affiliation agreements
·        Maintain Confidential Google Drives.
  • o   AHL Board of Governor’s Google Drive
  • o   AHL Hockey Operations Google Drive

General Hockey Operations
·   Assist in various hockey operation duties as required.
·   Manage and distribute preseason and post-season memos to member Clubs.
·   Assist in League planning and execution of the Annual AHL All-Star Classic.
