Position Summary:
AHLA is seeking a hands-on Human Resources Manager to support key HR functions, including employee relations, compensation, benefits administration, professional development, performance management, onboarding / offboarding, policy implementation, recruitment, and employment law compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong HR foundation, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to enhance employee engagement and organizational effectiveness.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with HR initiatives aligned with business objectives.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Support recruitment efforts, including workforce planning, employer branding, and hiring best practices.
- Oversee and refine onboarding programs to enhance new hire experience and retention.
- Assist in the creation and execution of learning & development programs, including leadership development initiatives.
- Provide support on employee relations issues, conflict resolution, and performance management to foster a positive workplace culture.
- Utilize HR metrics to assess program effectiveness and support recommendations.
- Support compensation and benefits programs, ensuring competitiveness and compliance.
- Contribute to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives and employee engagement strategies.
- Maintain and update HR policies in alignment with industry best practices and legal requirements.
- Respond to HR inquiries, troubleshoot employee concerns, and serve as a resource to staff and leadership.
- Organize and maintain HR files and documentation in compliance with record-keeping regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- At least four (4) to five (5) years of HR experience, preferably in a trade association, hospitality, or related industry.
- HR certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred.
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now and HRIS systems required.
- Strong working knowledge of Excel and HR analytics tools.
Skills and Attributes:
- Proven ability to handle employee relations matters with discretion and professionalism.
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws and their application in workplace policies and practices.
- Experience using HR metrics and analytics to support decision-making.
- Ability to manage multiple HR projects simultaneously with a high level of accuracy and efficiency.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present HR policies and initiatives effectively to employees and leadership.
- Detail-oriented individual with exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and act with integrity.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and proactively address challenges.
Other:
- Position based in Washington, DC.
- Minimal travel is required.
