Job Description
The Sr. Welding Engineer will be responsible for technical development and application of all welding operations within the organization. This includes developing and implementing welding procedures, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations, conducting quality control inspections, and providing technical expertise and support to the welding team and to the engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in welding processes, materials, and equipment, as well as excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Essential Functions Performed by the Position
- Develop and implement welding procedures and specifications in accordance with industry standards and regulations.
- Provide technical expertise and support to the welding team, including troubleshooting welding issues and providing guidance on welding techniques and best practices.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as design, estimations, and supply chain to ensure welding requirements are met.
- Train and mentor welding technicians and operators on proper welding techniques, safety procedures, and equipment operation.
- Conduct quality control inspections to ensure welds meet specified standards and requirements.
- Develop and maintain welding documentation, including weld maps, inspection reports, and welder qualifications.
- Monitor and evaluate welding equipment and tools and recommend upgrades or replacements.
- Research, implement, and execute the most suitable welding techniques, materials, and equipment for projects and continuous improvement.
- Write up return on investment (ROIs) for recommended weld implementations.
- Create estimated hours, recommended weld sequence, & weld processes from engineering drawings.
