Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and culturally attuned Career Coach to join our team, reporting directly to the Employment Services Manager. This pivotal role involves providing outreach, assessment, job development, education, and career counseling tailored to the needs of Ramsey County American Indian Employment Services participants. The Career Coach will play an essential part in delivering culturally relevant career coaching services aimed at promoting the professional success of participants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist participants in completing assessments and formulating realistic career goals, which will guide the development of Employment Plans (EPs).
  • Design and facilitate culturally appropriate workshops that enhance job-seeking and workplace skills.
  • Establish connections between participants and vital resources to support their career journeys.
  • Engage in recruiting efforts and collaborate with employers, educational professionals, and community agencies to create employment opportunities.
  • Monitor participant progress, maintaining thorough documentation in compliance with program requirements.
  • Employ strong communication and facilitation skills to encourage participant engagement and achievement of program goals.
  • Collaborate with Employment Services staff to fulfill contractual obligations related to positive outcomes, retention, and follow-up.
  • Maintain precise and current case records, ensuring timely updates to data management systems.
  • Identify and promote volunteer, unpaid, and paid employment opportunities, as well as educational apprenticeships for participants.
  • Conduct follow-ups with participants and employers to assist in retention and career advancement.

Required Skills

  • In-depth cultural knowledge of the American Indian community and its associated organizations is preferred.
  • Proven ability to cultivate relationships with community organizations and work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills coupled with proficient computer capabilities.
  • Strong organizational skills, reliability, and multitasking ability are essential.
  • Maintains confidentiality at all times.
  • A valid driver's license, insurance, and access to a vehicle are required.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred, with at least one year of experience in the Human Services sector or a comparable background.
  • Familiarity with career counseling techniques and participant file maintenance is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of Labor Market Information, employment trends, and job-seeking resources will be beneficial.
  • Experience in working sensitively with families and diverse populations is important.
