Job Overview

The position of Career Coach is critical in empowering participants of the Ramsey County American Indian Employment Services through outreach, assessment, job development, and career counseling. This role emphasizes the provision of culturally relevant career guidance designed to foster personal and professional growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate assessments and assist participants in establishing realistic and achievable career objectives to shape their Employment Plans (EPs).
  • Design and deliver culturally sensitive workshops to enhance job-seeking and workplace skills.
  • Connect participants with vital resources and collaborate with employers, educational professionals, and community organizations to expand opportunities.
  • Engage in outreach and recruitment efforts, coordinating job fairs and training sessions for the benefit of participants and staff.
  • Monitor participant progress, ensuring quality outcomes, and maintain comprehensive records in compliance with program standards.
  • Foster strong engagement and motivation among participants through effective presentation and facilitation techniques.
  • Collaborate with community agencies to cultivate integrated service models and support the objectives of the American Indian Family Center.
  • Provide guidance and support for volunteers and interns within the employment services framework.
  • Execute additional duties as assigned by management.

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of the American Indian community and relevant cultural dynamics.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational capabilities and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Proficiency in computer applications relevant to case management and data documentation.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards.
  • Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, with a preference for one year of experience in Human Services or a related area.
  • Demonstrated background in employment and training processes, equipped with knowledge of career counseling methodologies and participant documentation practices.
  • Familiarity with labor market information, employment trends, and educational resources.
