Summary
The marketing & communications coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing multi-channel marketing and communications strategies that advance American Indian OIC’s (AIOIC) program, fundraising, and visibility goals.
Duties & Responsibilities
· Develop and execute a marketing plan that meets the enrollment goals of AIOIC’s programs and advances the organization’s visibility to prospective stakeholders
· Develop digital marketing content and assets, and manage the organization’s social media accounts, websites, and Google account.
· Design and maintain marketing and communications materials, including (but not limited to) flyers, business cards, brochures, graphics, participant IDs, organizational SWAG, and paid advertisements
· Using SMS, email, and survey systems, execute communications with prospective, current and past participants to ensure their knowledge of program opportunities and to gain feedback on program needs
· Identify advertising opportunities and execute ad buys
· Oversee media relations, including the development and distribution of media releases and pitching stories directly to reporters
· Using photography and videography, document AIOIC’s activities and events and efficiently manage file storage to ensure easy access to marketing assets
· Develop written content, including, but not limited to, blog posts, newsletter articles, client success stories, donor appeals and recognition letters, and policy briefs.
· Represent AIOIC at community events like resource fairs, job fairs, and powwows.

Qualifications
Required
· Cultural competency working in a diverse environment
· Two or more years' experience working in a similar role
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· A flexible and adaptable approach to work and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
· Proficiency using a computer and Microsoft Office products
Preferred
· Understanding of Minnesota’s Indigenous communities, cultures, and practices
· Substantial previous experience in social media management and collateral design
· Proficiency with digital marketing tools like Facebook Pages administration, MailChimp, WordPress, Canva, and Adobe Creative Suite
· Video production experience
· Ability to think strategically and carry out long-term projects and plans that achieve organizational goals
· A creative and analytical approach to achieving goals

Compensation & Status
The marketing and communications coordinator is a full-time, non-exempt position, reporting to the VP of External Relations. American Indian OIC’s office hours are Monday-Friday from 8:30am-4:30pm, with opportunities for occasional telework. This position qualifies for medical, dental, retirement, and time-off benefits. AIOIC has at least ten paid employee holidays and up to five weeks of PTO can be accrued during the first year of employment. Free parking is available, and the campus is easily accessed by bike, light rail, and bus. Compensation for this position begins at $23 per hour. Wage offers are based on applicable qualifications, skills, and experience.
About American Indian OIC
American Indian OIC (AIOIC) was established in 1979 to address the education and employment disparities faced by Native American families living in and around South Minneapolis. The organization was founded as a career counseling provider but now offers multi-faceted education and workforce development services through its alternative high school, Adult Basic Education program, job training center, and career and financial coaching services. The goal of these programs is to give people the foundational education and support needed to enter occupations with opportunities for professional and wage advancement. Although it was founded to serve people of Native descent, most of AIOIC’s programs are open to anyone regardless of race, creed, gender, religion, age, or sexual orientation.
