American Industries is currently looking to hire a motivated, hard working and experienced Assistant Project Manager to expand our Team handling Large Scale Projects in Connecticut for the Department of Transportation. The ideal candidate will assist the Project Manager with Major Projects from Contract Award to Project Closeout. The candidate will work with the Project Team and assist the Project Manager with all Project related aspects on Connecticut Department of Transportation Projects.

Requirements:
- Must be organized and able to work in a fast paced environment
- Ability to prioritize is a must
- Assist with Job Costing, Purchase Orders and the Project budget
- Manage all Project Documentation
- Develop and Maintain all Project Logs (Submittals, RFI's, Procurement and PCO's)
- Generate and Administer Subcontracts and Purchase Orders
- Assist the Project Manager in preparing for all Project Meetings
- Attend meetings
- Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, Project and Bluebeam or Adobe
- Develop and create spreadsheets and reports using Microsoft Excel or Word
- Tracking quantities, costs and generating pay estimates
- Draft and review letters, proposals and Subcontracts
- Report to Project Manager
- Occasionally supervise and schedule employees
- Read and Interpret Plans and Contract Specifications
- Coordinate Project activities with Field Supervisors, Foreman, Crew Leaders, Trucks and Asphalt Plant as needed
- Assist in developing Baseline Schedules and submitting Monthly Schedule Updates
- Assist in developing and maintaining Project schedules
- Assist in submitting Two Week Look Ahead Schedules
- Assist in developing and tracking TIA and Time Extensions
- Track material lead times and coordinate timing of the required materials to the jobsites
- Estimate and perform quantity take offs
- Buyout and procure Project materials
- Identify Change Orders

Qualifications
- Minimum 1 to 2 years of experience
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications
- Detail-oriented
- Self-motivated
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and assist the Project Manager with all Project matters that relate to the success and completion of the Project
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel and Word) and Bluebeam
- Strong organizational skills
