Job Summary: Lab Assistant is responsible for accessing patient sample information into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), accurately according to received requisitions. Able to assist in troubleshooting issues with patient samples and effectively communicate internally and externally.
Essential Responsibilities/Duties
- Review all information to be accurate and meet the company's and regulatory standards.
- Accepts deliveries from couriers.
- Accession patient sample information and physician test orders according to requisitions, accurately.
- Provide oversight of orders on requisitions on pre-accessioned samples.
- Identify missing information and execute proper route when missing information is identified.
- Scan patient requisitions for medical records.
- Maintain a reportable error rate below .05% with a goal of zero errors per month.
- Verify required information, per HIPPA/CAP/CLIA, is obtained on all orders.
- Responsible for adherence to annual safety, compliance and HIPPA training.
- Education -
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Competencies/Skills -
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of all medical, financial, and legal information.
- Ability to work independently
- Effective oral communication skills
- Experience -
- 6 months experience working in a laboratory environment, preferred.
- Experience working with MS Office required.
- Certifications/Licenses -
- Must obtain site specific certification if applicable.
