What are the responsibilities and job description for the Massage Therapy Instructor position at American Institute?
Purpose of the Position:
The Instructor fulfills primary instructional duties and responsibilities as assigned. No teaching experience is necessary, but you must have a passion for Massage Therapy! The Instructor provides core content instruction to students based upon our curriculum. The Instructor works with the program director and other educational staff to maximize academic achievement, retention, certification, graduation, and placement outcomes. You will be fully supported every step of the way with ongoing training and the tools needed to confidently conduct our curriculum.
What You'll Do
- Teach Massage Therapy Program courses using American Institute’s fundamental and ABHES-accredited curricula
- Provide hands-on skills training in our equipped classroom lab focusing on Swedish, Therapeutic, Deep Tissue, Acupressure, Sports, Reflexology, Trigger Point, Pregnancy Massage, Hydrotherapy and Energy Bodywork
- Provide instruction in Anatomy and Physiology, Pathology, Kinesiology and Business and Ethics
- Instruct students about the importance of safety and compliance
- Encourage student growth, professionalism, and accountability
- Support and communicate progress with students
- Lead a motivating and engaging class in a positive setting through lectures, demonstrations and hands-on training
- Prepare students for a successful career in a field of their choice as a Licensed Massage Therapist
- Proactively monitors students’ performance and actively outreach as needed
- Provide academic feedback in a constructive, positive, and timely manner
- Create learning support tools to support students based on demonstrated needs
- Grade course activities and post weekly, midpoint and final grades by the pre-determined deadline(s)
- Follow Student and Employee Code of Conduct and Scholastic honesty
- Be responsive to program leadership, staff, and students via email, telephone, and/or virtual or other communications per established expectations
Requirements
- At least three years of experience in the field
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Highly organized, motivated and results driven
- Prior teaching experience preferred, but not necessary
- Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT)
