AIR's Education Statistics program area is seeking a Research Associate to support a variety of sample survey studies, administrative studies, and/or longitudinal studies. Examples of studies include National Household Education Study, National Training, Education, and Workforce Survey, School Survey on Crime and Safety Survey, National Teacher and Principal Survey, High School Longitudinal Study, Early Childhood Longitudinal Study, Middle Grades Longitudinal Study, the Public Libraries Survey, and the National Museum Survey. Candidates hired for the position may work remotely within the United States (U.S.) or from one of our U.S. office locations.This does not include U.S. territories.

The responsibilities for the position include:
- Provide support for a variety of sample survey studies, administrative studies, and/or longitudinal studies. Examples of studies include National Household Education Study, National Training, Education, and Workforce Survey, School Survey on Crime and Safety Survey, National Teacher and Principal Survey, High School Longitudinal Study, Early Childhood Longitudinal Study, Middle Grades Longitudinal Study, the Public Libraries Survey, and the National Museum Survey.
- Provide support to the operations of data collection, including activities related to interviewer training, user experience testing, monitoring field operations, and creating indicators of data collection.
- Conduct data analysis and reporting of survey results and methodological survey research.
- Support the drafting and review of statistical products such as data documentation, analysis reports, and blogs.
- Conduct basic statistical analyses to produce summary statistics.
- Conduct data quality assurance checks.
- Support qualitative research projects with schools, teachers, parents, and districts.
- Conduct literature reviews to help support potential survey design questions.
Education, Knowledge, and Experience:
- Master's degree in such fields as economics, psychology, sociology, statistics, computer science, public policy, survey methodology, or other social science related fields.
- Methodological education and/or expertise in social science research practices
- Basic understanding of/exposure to basic descriptive and inferential statistics
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate efficiently in a virtual work environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to rigorous quality control
Comfortable working independently and as a member of a team with individuals from diverse backgrounds and at all levels
- Ability to use statistical software programs such as R, SPSS, or Stata to analyze data - a plus (not required)

This position is open to U.S. citizens only. Upon hire, incumbent will be required to obtain clearance through the Electronic Questionnaires for Investigations Processing (e-QIP) system.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis. Employment-based visa sponsorship (including H-1B sponsorship) is not available for this position. Depending on project work, qualified candidates may need to meet certain residency requirements.

AIR's Total Rewards Program, is designed to reward our staff competitively and motivate them to achieve our critical mission. This position offers $32.00 per hour. Salary offers are made based on internal equity within the institution and external equity with competitive markets. Please note this is the annual salary range for candidates that are based in the United States.
