Summary:
The Construction Foreman is responsible for landscape construction projects for American Landscape and Maintenance, Inc. The Construction Foreman is also responsible for providing guidance to construction crews in order to assure the proper, efficient and timely completion of construction projects. This is a working supervisor position.
Job Responsibilities:
- Direct and supervise activities of workers who perform duties such as landscape construction, installing sod or plant materials, or tearing out sod and/or plant materials.
- Discuss with Superintendents, Construction Manager to understand the requirements for each landscaping job.
- Monitor project activities to ensure that instructions are followed, deadlines are met, and schedules are maintained.
- Delegate work for crews depending on work priorities, crew and equipment availability, and weather conditions.
- Monitor attendance & performance of crew
- Execute operating procedures and work standards that will ensure adequate performance and personnel safety.
- Inspect completed work to ensure conformance to specifications, standards, and contract requirements.
- Train and coach laborers regarding consistent techniques and use of equipment.
- Ensure materials and tools are available for your crew and that all tools and equipment are properly maintained.
- Monitor and maintain inventory checklist of stock on the truck.
- Complete paperwork in a timely manner.
- Supervise the use of machinery and equipment.
- Participate in job completion walks.
- Guarantee all safety precautions and quality standards are met, as well as the jobsite is clean.
- Verify with Dig Alert before all jobs.
- Review Announcement Board daily and relay information to the crew.
- This is a working supervisor position.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of plants, hardscape, excavating, grading and drainage.
- Efficient at reading and understanding blueprints.
- Ability to use basic loaders, skid steers, trailers and other landscape equipment with efficiency such as backhoes, power augers, grading rakes and tillers.
- Ability to effectively communicate present information and respond to questions, both verbal and written.
- Ability to organize, multi-task, plan and set priorities with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work independently and in team settings.
- Ability to exercise good judgment with a strong attention to detail
Physical Demands:
- Stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to frequently move supplies of up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift weight consisting of 75 pounds.
Work Environment:
- Exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- Interaction with staff and customers.
- Regularly performing outside duties.
