Crew Leader/Foreman is a ‘working lead' who directs crew members and operates equipment used to safely accomplish quality and production goals. This is an hourly, non-exempt position that will work with indirect supervision.
Essential Duties
- Supervise assigned crew members to ensure tasks are safely and productively completed in a timely manner with a high quality finished product.
- Transport crew and equipment to and from jobsites in a safe, professional manner. Abide by all federal, state, local and company driving rules regarding safety.
- Report on time, in company uniform and professional appearance to designated location specified by supervisor.
- Properly complete Driver's Vehicle Inspection for any vehicle that requires a CDL. Turn into mechanic daily.
- Pre-Trip Inspection: completed prior to use.
- Requires Repair: complete for any and all maintenance and property damage issues.
- Maintain proper housekeeping at shop, at jobsites, with vehicles, with equipment, and at hotels/motels.
- Complete and maintain Driver's Daily Log as required by regulatory agencies (as needed).
- Obtain/return completed job information and timesheet from designated area. Interpret and ask questions if you are unsure on any aspect of the information.
- Arrive at jobsite and access the scope of work to be complete. Establish a safety perimeter around work zone and ensure correct safety equipment/PPE is being used.
- Establish and execute an efficient plan of completing the scope of work. Delegate tasks to crew members to support safe and efficient work.
- Supervise and encourage crew members. Promote and demand an environment of mutual respect.
- Communicate all information to supervisor regarding all timesheet information, problems on the job, potential hazards, and ideas of potentially more successful job completion.
- Analyze and determine the safest and most efficient way to load, transport, and unload material and equipment. Evaluate the load to determine the following:
- The truck and trailer are adequate for the load.
- The load has been adequately secured.
- Proper signage has been considered (wide load, oversized, or permitted loads).
- Use assigned company credit cards for work purchases only and turn in all company purchase receipts to the office administrator per company policy.
- Promote positive public relations and image.
- Ensure proper care, maintenance and operation of company equipment.
- Frequently work more than 40 hours per week and non-traditional hours including night shift, Saturdays and occasionally Sundays.
- Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
- Cross train and work in ALL divisions on an as needed basis.
- Ensures that the tools and equipment needed are loaded on the trucks prior to departure to the job site
- Manages the loading/unloading of trucks and trailers in the morning and evening
- Supervises the work of technicians onsite and delegates job tasks in a manner that ensures proper safety, quality, and productivity
- Oversees all work tickets and ensures completion in accordance with the schedule
- Inspects all work tickets completed for quality to eliminate the need for return visits and/or re-work due to poor quality or client satisfaction issues
- Ensures that all work activities are carried out in a safe manner, including compliance with government and company
- Personal Protective Equipment (“PPE”) standards
- Maintains and enforces standards of cleanliness and organization in assigned trucks, trailers, equipment, jobsites, and shop/yard areas
- Submits accurate, completed, work order documents to the operations leadership at the end of each workday
- Reads and interprets blueprints and structural drawings to delegate work activities as necessary
- Maintains a clean and safe work site including proper maintenance and care of all company equipment
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 years of leadership experience preferred
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years landscape industry experience
- Safety regulations, map reading, information reporting, equipment operations and troubleshooting.
- Equipment and tools needed for the project.
- Federal, state, and local laws that apply to commercial vehicles.
- In particular, Federal, state, and local laws that apply to wide loads, oversized, or permitted loads.
- Materials required for the project.
- Construction or landscape experience (preferred)
Tier 1 CDL Crew Leader
- REQUIRED: Valid Class A CDL driver's license for the state in which you reside.
- Able to safely, efficiently, and confidently Drive all mulching vehicles owned or leased by the Company.
- Able to safely, efficiently, and confidently haul all trailers and equipment used in mulch operations owned or leased by the Company including wide loads, oversized, or permitted loads.
- REQUIRED: Valid Class B CDL driver's license for the state in which you reside.
- Able to safely, efficiently, and confidently Drive all mulching vehicles owned or leased by the Company.
- ALL CDL Crew Leaders o Must have a driving record that would allow the employee to be covered on the company's vehicle insurance.
- Must have and maintain a current DOT medical card (properly filed with State of Ohio).
- Must have basic math skills.
- Must obtain and maintain all mandatory training.
- Must have a reliable mobile communication device.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
