Charter One works with schools across the country to provide all-inclusive education management services. American Leadership Academy is now accepting applications for a First Responder Teacher (9-12) for the 2024-2025 school year. Candidates must possess a valid AZ IVP fingerprint clearance card.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Design and implement a comprehensive curriculum that includes topics such as first aid, CPR, emergency response protocols, fire safety, and incident management.
· Deliver engaging lectures and practical demonstrations to teach students essential first responder skills and knowledge.
· Evaluate student performance through practical assessments, written exams, and skills demonstrations, providing constructive feedback for improvement.
· Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.
· Provide guidance and support to students, helping them develop their skills and prepare for certification and employment in emergency services.
· Stay current with the latest trends, techniques, and regulations in emergency response and public safety.
· Work with local emergency services and organizations to provide students with hands-on training opportunities and real-world experience.
· Ensure adherence to state regulations and accreditation standards related to first responder training and safety practices.
· Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Comprehensive understanding of first responder protocols, emergency medical procedures, firefighting techniques, and incident management.
· Ability to effectively design and deliver engaging lessons that accommodate various learning styles.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills for clear instruction, feedback, and interaction with students and colleagues.
· Ability to build positive relationships with students, fostering a supportive and collaborative classroom environment.
· Strong organizational abilities to manage classroom activities, lesson plans, and student assessments.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in emergency management, public safety, education, or a related field.
· Valid AZ IVP Fingerprint Clearance card
· At least 3-5 years of hands-on experience in a first responder role (e.g., EMT, firefighter, law enforcement).
· Current certifications in CPR and First Aid
· Relevant first responder training certifications (e.g., EMT certification, firefighter training).
Preferred Qualifications:
· Master’s degree in emergency management, public safety, education, or a related field.
· 5 years of experience in a first responder role, with supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
· Additional certifications in areas such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), or Fire Instructor I/II.
- Experience in designing and implementing training programs or curricula for first responder education.
