What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Paraprofessional (K-6, Sierra Vista, AZ) position at American Leadership Academy?
American Leadership Academy is currently accepting applications for Special Education Paraprofessional for our Sierra Vista Elementary campuses. Candidates must possess a valid AZ IVP Fingerprint Clearance card and CPR/First Aid Certification.
Qualifications:
- Completed at least 60 credit hours of study at an institution of higher education OR obtained an associate’s degree or higher OR a passing score on the AZ Dept. of Education Paraprofessional assessment
- Experience and/or coursework in teaching reading or math is preferred, but not required
Duties include:
- Modifying or adapting instruction for students with disabilities
- Working with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills introduced by the teacher
- Providing one-on-one assistance to students with disabilities
- Guiding independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work with students as set up and assigned by the teacher
- Assisting students with self-care tasks (as necessary)
