JOB SUMMARY
The Dean of Students at American Legacy Academy is a key leadership role focused on fostering a positive, safe, and comprehensive school culture for K-8 students. This position emphasizes promoting and supporting positive classroom management, developing and implementing proactive behavior supports, and cultivating a school-wide environment where all students can thrive. The Dean of Students will collaborate with teachers to reinforce effective behavior management strategies, implement school-wide programs for social-emotional growth, and support individual students in developing positive behavior skills. Additionally, the Dean of Students will work closely with families, teachers, and staff to maintain open communication, address concerns, and ensure each child has the support they need for a successful and enriching school experience. The ideal candidate is a compassionate, proactive leader dedicated to building a positive school climate that empowers students to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities:
- School Assessment Coordinator is responsible for managing and overseeing the planning, implementation, and analysis of all student assessments, ensuring alignment with educational standards and supporting data-driven decision-making to improve student achievement.
- Foster a positive, comprehensive, and supportive culture that aligns with the school's mission and values.
- Implement and oversee positive classroom management strategies and school-wide behavior support programs.
- Support teachers with classroom management techniques and interventions to create a conducive learning environment.
- Develop and enforce behavior policies in accordance with Colorado statutes and school handbook guidelines.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for behavior-related issues, providing guidance and support to both students and staff.
- Conduct investigations and respond to behavioral incidents in a fair and consistent manner.
- Collaborate with counselors, teachers, and other staff to implement social-emotional learning programs that promote positive behavior and conflict resolution.
- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student behavior, support plans, and school expectations.
- Organize and facilitate professional development for staff on behavior management and social-emotional learning.
- Maintain accurate records of behavioral incidents and interventions, ensuring all documentation is complete and compliant with state and school policies.
- Serve as a liaison between the school and outside support agencies for students needing additional behavioral or social-emotional assistance.
- Support attendance initiatives, monitor student attendance, and work with families to address attendance concerns.
- Uphold and enforce all Colorado statutes and the policies and procedures outlined in the school handbooks.
- Actively participate in and support school events, assemblies, and activities to build community and reinforce a positive school culture.
- Report regularly to the school administration on trends, successes, and areas of improvement related to student behavior and school climate.
