Summary:
American Legacy Academy is seeking a passionate and skilled K-8 Instructional Coach to join our team for the 2025-2026 school year. The Instructional Coach will work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and staff to enhance instructional practices, improve student outcomes, and align teaching strategies with our school’s mission and curriculum standards. This role is ideal for an educator with a strong background in pedagogy, a commitment to professional growth, and the ability to support a dedicated team of K-8 educators.
Responsibilities
- Instructional Support: Partner with K-8 teachers to develop and implement effective, classically based instructional strategies that meet the diverse needs of students.
- Professional Development: Design and facilitate workshops, training sessions, and one-on-one coaching to enhance teacher capacity in areas such as differentiated instruction, classroom management, and assessment practices.
- Curriculum Alignment: Collaborate with grade-level teams to ensure curriculum and lesson plans align with curriculum standards, school goals, and best Classical practices in education.
- Data-Driven Instruction: Assist teachers in analyzing student performance data (e.g., assessments, benchmarks) to inform instructional planning and interventions.
- Support the Gifted and Talented as well as READ Act interventions.
- Classroom Observations: Conduct non-evaluative classroom observations, provide constructive feedback, and model lessons to demonstrate innovative teaching techniques.
- Mentorship: Serve as a mentor to new and veteran teachers, fostering a culture of collaboration, reflection, and continuous improvement.
- Develop and cultivate the Professional Learning Community (PLC) work to enhance teacher effectiveness, collaboration and curriculum alignment.
- Resource Development: Curate and share instructional resources, tools, and great books to enhance teaching and learning across grade levels.
- School-Wide Initiatives: Support the implementation of school-wide academic programs and contribute to the development of a positive, student-centered learning environment.
- Ensure that all teachers have the appropriate resources including books, manipulatives and supplies
- Serve as a member of the MTSS team for classroom interventions.
- Support development of the Unified Improvement Plan (UIP)
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field required; Experience with Access Literacy, Singapore Math and Core Knowledge preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of successful classroom teaching experience at the K-8 level; prior coaching or leadership experience is highly desirable.
- Certification: Valid teaching certification preferred; additional certification in instructional coaching or educational leadership is a plus.
Skills:
- Expertise in K-8 instructional strategies, classical pedagogy, and curriculum development.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build trust and collaboration with colleagues.
- Proficiency in analyzing educational data and using it to drive instructional decisions.
- Familiarity with educational technology and tools (e.g., Doc Cameras and Chromebooks.)
