Job Description :

NASA has awarded the Aircraft and Spaceflight Systems Engineering Support Services (ASSESS) contract to AMA to provide specialized research, science, and engineering services at Ames Research Center in California's Silicon Valley.

ASSESS will provide specialized research, science, and engineering services that support a wide range of applications, from entry vehicle thermal protection systems to revolutionary vertical lift technology through the following core disciplines :

  • Aerodynamics
  • Aerothermodynamics
  • Aeroacoustics
  • Machine Learning
  • Materials Design / Manufacturing / Test / Evaluation / Development and Implementation
  • Systems Analysis, Engineering, Design and Development
  • Structures Analysis
  • Engineering Risk Analysis
  • System Integration
  • Project Management

AMA is looking forward to providing qualified personnel to perform a variety of professional support. The ASSESS Incumbent Application is for employees performing work on this contract and interested in continuing their current position as part of AMA's team under this contract in the following service categories :

  • Aerothermodynamicist (Levels 1-3) : Responsible for the research, development, implementation, and / or application of aerothermodynamic analysis tools and techniques. Works as a member of research, development, and / or analysis teams to provide aerothermodynamic expertise. Will typically have direct interaction with customers, engineering team leads, and project and / or functional managers. May lead teams of aerothermodynamic engineers to provide technical direction or assignments.
  • Materials Scientist / Engineer (Levels 1-3) : Responsible for the research, development, characterization, and testing of advanced materials. Works as a member of research, development, and / or analysis teams to provide expertise in materials science. Will typically have direct interaction with customers, engineering team leads, and project and / or functional managers. May lead other materials scientists and engineers to provide technical direction or assignments.
  • Systems Engineer (Levels 1-3) : Responsible for applying systems engineering strategies, procedures, and techniques in support of engineering projects. Supports project teams performing research, development, and / or analysis in support of flight systems development projects. Will typically have direct interaction with customers, engineering teams, and project and / or functional managers. May lead other systems engineers in providing technical direction or assignments.
  • Thermal / Mechanical Engineer (Levels 1-3) : Responsible for the research, development, implementation, and / or application of thermal-mechanical analysis tools and techniques. Works as a member of research, development, and / or analysis teams to provide thermal mechanical expertise. Will typically have direct interaction with customers, engineering team leads, and project and / or functional managers. May lead other thermal mechanical engineers in providing technical direction or assignments.
  • Aerospace Engineer (Levels 1-3) : Responsible for the research, development, implementation, and / or application of aerodynamic analysis tools and techniques as related to the flight of aerospace vehicles. Works as a member of research, development, and / or analysis teams to provide expertise in the discipline of aerodynamics. Will typically have direct interaction with customers, engineering team leads, and project and / or functional managers. May lead other aerospace engineers to provide technical direction or assignments.'
  • CFD Analyst (Levels 1-3) : Responsible for the research, development, implementation, and / or application of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis tools and techniques. Works as a member of research, development, and / or analysis teams to provide expertise in CFD for aerodynamic, aerothermodynamic, aeroacoustics, and aeroelastic analysis. Will typically have direct interaction with customers, engineering team leads, and project and / or functional managers. May lead other CFD analysts in providing technical direction or assignments.
  • Systems Analyst (Levels 1-3) : Responsible for applying systems analysis support to engineering projects. Supports project teams performing research, development, and / or analysis for flight systems development projects. Will typically have direct interaction with customers, engineering teams, and project and / or functional managers. May lead other systems analysts in providing technical direction or assignments.
  • Research Associate : Responsible for providing usually short-term research support in one of the technical disciplines in the PWS in support of ongoing engineering projects. Works as a member of research, development, and / or analysis teams to perform a short-term research project.
  • Project Manager (Levels 1-3) : Responsible for management, oversight, and integration of engineering activities in support of research efforts and flight systems projects. Integrates and refines requirements and acts as a focal point for coordination of engineering disciplines and activities to facilitate completion of requirements. May provide technical direction or assignments to contractor staff.
  • Senior Lab Technician : Responsible for providing support to materials research, development, and test activities. Responsible for planning and performing laboratory experiments, developing test articles, and overseeing laboratory logistics and operations.
  • Senior Documentation Specialist : Responsible for the development and maintenance of systems and processes for the management of documents, records, databases, and files. Responsible for writing, distributing, collecting, storing, and maintaining technical, project, and organizational documentation.
  • Salary Range for these positions is $69,500 - $222,000, depending on position, education, experience, and location.

    The primary location for these positions is Mountain View, California, but telework opportunities will be considered.

    Ability to pass a drug screen and background investigation may be required.
