Nursing Supervisors (Fulll- time 3PM to 11PM and 11PM to 7AM)
Located in Brooklyn, NY
Salary: $100K; Based on experience
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred.
- Registered Professional Nurse with a current license to practice in the State of New York.
- Previous experience in a leadership position in a long-term care facility and/or acute care facility preferred.
- Well-groomed and professionally attired at all time.
- Demonstrates competence as a nursing professional.
- Demonstrates strong leadership and management.
- Conducts oneself with an attitude which enhances the image of the nursing department.
- Supports and exemplifies the philosophy and objectives of the Nursing Department.
- Demonstrates loyalty and commitment to professional responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the general supervision of licensed and unlicensed nursing personnel.
- Responsible for the general floor management of nursing care units.
- Assists the nurses in establishing routines which facilitate an optimal level of resident care and which provides for the continuity of care on all shifts.
- Assists in the review of staffing schedule.
- Reviews 24-hour report to ensure proper endorsement at the beginning and end of each tour.
- Check the sign in sheet against 24-hour staffing sheet to verify that personnel have reported for work as scheduled.
- Makes periodic rounds of the nursing care units to ensure quality professional resident care.
- Checks all residents on report to monitor status and ensure care delivery.
- Responds to all accidents/incidents reported on tour and initiates an investigation of the occurrence if warranted (crosswalk: Accident/Incident Reporting)
- Performs and ongoing review of the nursing summary/medication regimen review/care plan and submits a formal audit to the Director of Nursing as requested.
- Observe medication and treatment pass and identifies/investigates for medication errors in delay in treatment.
- Assists in the orientation of new licensed and unlicensed nursing personnel on her assigned unit.
- Prepares and completes performance evaluations.
- Exercises the disciplinary process as necessary, not only as a punitive measure but as an educational experience for staff development.
- Demonstrates appropriate leadership techniques and is able to make independent professional judgmental decisions.
- Anticipates problematic situations and utilizes the appropriate skills which prevent their occurrence or minimizes their effect.
- Possesses the ability and awareness of the need to delegate tasks and functions as indicated.
- Assists in the ongoing inservice education of Nursing Department personnel.
- Participates in departmental and interdisciplinary meetings which influence policy and procedure relating to nursing practice.
- Demonstrates an understanding of the survey process and assists in the preparation for specific surveys conducted by official health agencies which are related to resident care documentation and physical environment.
- Maintains professional competence through participation in continuing education and other learning experiences.
- All other duties assigned by the Director of Nursing or designee.
- Conducts Quality Assurance audits as directed.
- Attends Interdisciplinary Care Plan, Accident/Incident and family meetings when requested.
- Coordinates and standardized practices for all shifts as per facility policies and procedures.
- Consults with the physician through ongoing review of the resident’s comprehensive care plan to ensure timely delivery of care. Communicate same with resident or family as necessary.
