JOB DESCRIPTION This position has the ability to report out of Columbus, OH (Hybrid) or remotely out of AMP's membership footprint.Position Title : Senior Transmission Engineer- Protection & ControlReports To : Director Transmission EngineeringFLSA Status : ExemptBasic Functions : 1. Assist with overseeing and coordinating Protection & Control (P&C) engineering activities on AMP Transmission (AMPT) owned assets and development projects.2. Assist with implementing and maintaining AMPT engineering standards.3. Provide technical direction, guidance and procedural consistency to the full life cycle of P&C systems, including development, commissioning, start up, operations, maintenance and troubleshooting on AMPT owned assets and new projects in planning, development and operation.Essential Functions : 1. Participate in capital project engineering P&C related activities, including developing requests for proposals, as well as vetting, selecting, and managing third-party engineering companies and contractors. Provide technical direction to consultants and review of third-party deliverables.2. Develop, maintain, and manage AMPT engineering standards related to P&C (i.e. protection philosophy guide, wiring diagram guide, relay operations diagram guide, relay settings templates, etc.). 3. Review or develop relay protection settings as needed using ASPEN OneLiner and / or other method.4. Review and develop monitoring and control specifications for supervisory control and data acquisition systems. 5. Assist in determining ratings as needed for electric equipment to ensure proper operation and compliance with applicable regulations. Support maintaining AMPT’s equipment rating guidelines.6. Participate in project field / site walkdowns and attend meetings / conference calls as needed. Also participate in equipment factory visits for prefabricated control houses or relay panels as needed.7. Assist with maintaining drawing management file systems and engineering databases. 8. Work in close collaboration with transmission operations, transmission planning, transmission project management and other departments and stakeholders to successfully accomplish task.9. Perform other various duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, & Qualifications : 1. A four-year accredited degree in engineering is required; electrical engineering is preferred.2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in electric transmission or distribution protection and controls is required.3. A Professional Engineer's license is preferred.4. Required knowledge of North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Reliability and Cybersecurity Standards, and applicable protection and control compliance obligations.5. Experience with ASPEN OneLiner, ASPEN Relay Database, AutoCAD, AcSELerator QuickSet,or similar software applications preferred.6. Must be deadline / critical path oriented and have a strong ability to prioritize.7. Strong verbal, written, and computer skills are essential; must demonstrate previous success in building effective business relationships. Must have a positive attitude and work well within a small team.8. Must successfully complete FERC Standards of Conduct compliance training within 30 days of employment.9. Must be willing to travel to assigned project locations throughout the AMP Transmission footprint.10. Position is located at the AMP Headquarters building in Columbus, Ohio. Preference will be given to candidates who currently live in the Columbus area or are willing to relocate. This job is eligible for a hybrid work schedule (3 days in office and 2 days working from home). 11. Candidates who are located remotely from Columbus, Ohio, but within the AMP membership footprint may be considered for this position. If the selected candidate is a remote candidate, they will be expected to travel to project sites based on project needs and to AMP Headquarters on a periodic basis.
