The Advancement department is seeking a full-time Director of Individual Giving to design and achieve a comprehensive Individual Giving program to attract new mid-level and major prospects and donors, while effectively stewarding current supporters. Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the creation, design and execution of the Museum’s Individual Giving (mid- and major-level) goals and strategies. Retain and grow current donors and expand the base of donor support, including by developing metrics to measure ongoing success and return on investment.

  • Lead the management of the Museum’s volunteer engagement program, which currently includes the Museum Advisory Council, the Center for Biodiversity and Conservation Advisory Council and family engagement strategies.
  • Develop a strong working knowledge of Museum programs and funding priorities in order to articulate a compelling case for support to all constituents.
  • Build and manage a personal portfolio of major gift-level prospects to deepen their engagement and relationships with the Museum and increase their giving. Ensure alignment of these efforts with the Museum’s fundraising priorities, including through the customization of short-, intermediate- and long-term cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in Advancement and across the Museum on the creation and implementation of creative and impactful cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies and resources. This could include, but is not limited to: events, programs, giving and recognition opportunities, proposals, reports and other printed and digital materials.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with Museum colleagues, including Museum leadership, fellow Advancement staff, scientists, educators and exhibition specialists. Promote a culture of philanthropy across the organization.
