American National is seeking a Systems Engineer II to maintain the infrastructure software and systems of our Intel/Risc-based server computing systems. In this role, you will specialize in operating system software and/or one or more subsystems or business applications including infrastructure automation, cloud services administration, systems configuration management, infrastructure vulnerability remediation, and system recovery. You must be able to resolve issues quickly, accurately, and comprehensively by drawing upon experience and training. This role will be on-site at our League City, TX office.
What You'll Do
Administer server operating systems, middleware, and web and business applications, including the installation, upgrading, and patching of such systems.
Assist Application Development and Network Security by providing SME assistance on performance, availability, and vulnerabilities within the computing environment.
Troubleshoot the operating system, web application engine, and various distributed middleware problems by taking necessary steps to resolve issues during and after business hours.
Participate as the infrastructure technical representative for new application installations and projects that involve responsible systems.
Utilize various tools including programming and scripting technologies to standardize, streamline, and automate infrastructure builds and support processes.
Document and maintain procedures regarding responsible systems and servers with little or no assistance expected from senior team members and/or management.
Review, interpret, and understand security vulnerability assessments and implement remediations as determined and in conjunction with the Network Security team.
Prioritize and schedule vulnerability remediation with respective asset owners.
Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.
Knowledge of security best practice and implementation across operating systems and 3rd party software.
Enterprise management of hybrid data center, on-premise and cloud.
What You'll Need
Associates degree in IT or a related field.
Three or more years of experience within systems or software engineering
Complete understanding of Windows server and/or Linux operating systems.
Complete understanding of LDAP/AD concepts including user account management, Group Policy, permissions, etc.
Must have excellent troubleshooting and problem resolution skills
Must be able to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation and expected to respond to a wide range of hardware and software problems.
Knowledge of automation of manual processes with scripting PowerShell, Ansible, or other.
What Will Set You Apart
MCSE, or an equivalent job-related certification.
Knowledge of maintenance best practice processes and formal change-management procedures.
Understanding of TCP/IP, IP addressing, subnetting, FTP, SMTP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, DHCP, etc.
Knowledge of tool suites - CrowdStrike, Tenable.SC, RedHat Satellite, SCCM, SCOM, and Azure.
