Career Summary:

The ANCC team is seeking a high-performing and dedicated Senior Product Owner. In this role, the Senior Product Owner will provide exceptional project management, IT knowledge and leadership skills, and be accountable for managing the portfolio of the ANCC products and data systems, and any Enterprise data systems and products used by ANCC to meet department, entity, and Enterprise strategic goals. Senior Product Owner will assess how current technical systems are being utilized, and make recommendations in collaboration with the Enterprise IT department, on how to better leverage, execute, and / or maximize usage of ANCC systems.

Working collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders internally and externally Senior Product Owner will be accountable to the Project Sponsor(s) for projects and to the responsible Executive Leader for day-to-day oversight. Primary responsibilities will include product ownership of ANCC’s suite of products, and leading decision-making, in collaboration with ANCC leadership, on complex projects with high visibility and functional integration to achieve the articulated vision for specific products.

Additionally, the Senior Product Owner will manage product development timelines and deliverables within prescribed budgets, support ongoing maintenance of products, and execute key strategic and operational deliverables. As a Senior Product Owner you will lead and ensure that systems and projects are clearly defined, and project objectives are understood among all project stakeholders. will also represent ANCC at relevant AN Enterprise task forces and committees and is authorized to act on behalf of ANCC for decisions within scope of this role.

What you will do:

  • Communicates with stakeholders including but not limited to business unit owners, and the development team to ensure product goals are clear, and the vision is aligned with business objectives.
  • Assesses the costs and benefits of new projects and justifies funding on projects to relevant business owners and leadership.
  • Prioritizes tasks based on the overall strategy and business objectives, and tracks project dependencies to inform the necessary sequence of development.
  • Prioritizes needs within the triangle of scope, budget, and time, weighing priorities according to the needs and objectives of stakeholders.
  • Oversees and is accountable for decisions on product and project development including working with stakeholders to identify and organize steps required for each iteration of project development or project management.
  • Acts as primary communicator and link between stakeholders and ensures buy-in from stakeholders on all major decisions and strategy, and articulates clear instructions and deliverables.
  • Conducts analyses of data maintained within the ANCC data systems. Partners with the ANE Institute for Nursing Research & Quality Management to provide pertinent data and/or reports for program development, revisions, and/or opportunities for growth and reports recommendations to ANCC leadership. Analyzes data for trends and provides reports to key stakeholders.
  • Oversees ANCC’s online community platforms in collaboration with program teams and content experts, facilitates regular content monitoring, metrics, and updating. Supervises ANCC’s Online Communications Specialist.
  • Attends departmental and committee meetings and conference calls, provides professionally prepared reports and performs other duties as assigned. Supports the quality management system ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 standards.

What you bring to ANA:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in information technology, communications, or related field.

Related Work Experience:

  • A minimum of 10 years of related Product Owner and Project Management experience, preferably leading multiple complex technical product implementations, requiring familiarity with data systems, communication, and project management methodologies. Experience or knowledge in healthcare a plus.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) certification
  • Project Management Professional® Certification (or attain within 12 months) or comparable professional or technology certification
  • Preference for experience with ANE’s association management and other software (e.g., Personify, Jira, Azure, ADAM, ADAMplus, PAORS, OARS2.0, Acumen).
  • Relationship building and collaboration skills across diverse and matrixed stakeholders and customers.
  • Ability to surface, prioritize, and balance multiple stakeholder priorities.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent meeting facilitation and consensus building skills.
  • Ability to lead constructive retrospective sessions with respect to processes, tools, practices and outcomes.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, including experience interpreting data, sometimes with limited context and / or direction.
  • Demonstrated expertise in strategic thinking and strong business acumen.
  • Discretion and expert management and support of sensitive data systems, sensitive data, and data security and confidentiality
  • Demonstrated success in defining, building and enhancing products.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical information in a condensed manner to various stakeholders verbally and in writing.

  • Able to articulate product value, and deliverable(s). Facilitate and secure buy in with diverse stakeholders
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, demonstrated ability to express ideas concisely in oral forms; strong written communication skills and editorial and grammatical accuracy are mandatory
  • Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Continuous problem-solving ability
  • Mastery in dispute resolution with ability to find common ground among diverse groups
  • Ability to demonstrate on-time outcomes in dynamic environment with multiple priorities
  • Position requires discretion in handling confidential information on a regular basis.

Technical

  • Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Office products
  • Experience working with a variety of databases; experience in the use of various statistical computer programs required.
  • Demonstrated ability to express ideas concisely in oral forms; strong written communication skills and editorial and grammatical accuracy are mandatory.
  • Demonstrated ability with all aspects of project management including budget, timeline, risk mitigation, communication, change management
  • Expert understanding and application of computer science principles including software development
  • Experience leading agile teams

Note: Occasional overnight travel may be required.
