Position Overview:
Lead the American Outdoor Brands transportation and logistics functions. Develop and implement a transportation and logistics strategy that supports the company's strategic growth plan to achieve cost, quality, and service objectives. Design, implement, and optimize AOB's logistics network to deliver current needs while supporting company growth.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Cultivate a people-centric culture of engagement and empowerment

- Focus on collaboration and servant leadership for effective continuous improvement and change management
- Ensure deliverables for carrier service level expectations include cost controls, quality service, on-time deliveries, audit controls, claim management, and KPI achievement
- Source and select carriers and negotiate contract terms
- Establish and maintain relationships with vendors to ensure effectiveness and efficiency
- Analyze market trends to optimize strategic use of routing and resources to achieve company objectives
- Develop and implement process improvement programs to optimize route efficiency, cost containment, and customer service levels
- Define, analyze, and track operational metrics
- Cultivate a high-performing team to achieve company goals, meet changing business demands, develop internal talent capability, and deliver consistent results
- Ensure adherence to federal laws and regulations governing transportation activities and maintain organizational compliance at all times
- Maintain knowledge of logistics industry and market trends to innovate, reduce cost, improve customer service, and develop transportation team

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
- 10 years of experience in Transportation/Logistics (other Supply Chain Management experience a plus)
- 4 years of experience leading and managing a team
- Superior knowledge of supply chain processes and vendor management. Extensive knowledge of freight forwarding and global shipping markets across ocean, air, truck and parcel channels
- Experience and high degree of proficiency using relevant software applications: Microsoft 365 FO, ERP, Transportation Management Systems, and Microsoft Office applications required

Physical Demands:
- Regular and predictable attendance is required
- Travel Requirement: <5%
- Some work is required in "off-hours" for business meetings/company events

- Ability to move about facility on regular basis to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing or walking

Work Environment and Personal Protective Equipment:
- General office environment, with some exposure to plant environment, with forklift and other general hazards
Within any of our facilities, employees may be exposed to manufacturing noise, airborne liquid chemicals, fine particulate dust, ambient temperatures, and industrial lighting. Work environment is similar to most manufacturing and distribution operations. May be exposed to excessive noise, temperatures, hazards associated with working around moving machinery, work in confined quarters, exposure to vibrations and shop lighting, continuous exposure to hot temperatures, may be humid, odors, dust, continuous exposure to mechanical hazards, and occasional exposure to chemical hazards.
The following Personal Protective Equipment is required:
- Safety glasses with side shields and hearing protection required when on manufacturing floor
The use of additional personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required when a job task(s) is being completed in or around your assigned department or in another department, this includes safety eyewear, hearing protection, and safety footwear.
