Our goal at American Pain Consortium is to support our clinics that help patients seeking relief from pain, numbness, and tingling sensations that are often related to neuropathic pain or neuropathy, among many other forms of chronic pain. Even patients who have tried other pain treatments without success often benefit significantly from safe, effective treatment at American Pain Consortium. Our clinical multidisciplinary approach to care delivers the correct intervention to every patient, every time through various pain management procedures including injections, open surgical cases with general anesthesia, physical therapy, and psychological services. Our Providers focus on helping individuals improve functionality to restore a more meaningful lifestyle.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (What You’ll Do)
- Evaluate and manage patients with complex diagnosis by conducting thorough medical histories, perform complete physical examinations (where indicated), order diagnostic tests, imaging to develop a differential diagnosis, and implementation of a multidisciplinary plan including ordering interventional care and pharmacological management.
- Assesses test/lab data on patients to establish a record of the patient's current health status and develops a working diagnosis and treatment plan with direct review by a physician.
- Performs routine procedures, such as joint and trigger point injections, orders specific pain management therapies (epidurals, spinal injections, neuromodulation therapies, etc.), and refills/manages implanted drug pumps, etc.
- RSD and Complex regional pain syndrome, abdominal, pelvic pain, and cancer related or treatment related pain syndromes.
- Follow up and adjusting the continuum of care as indicated.
- Documentation is based on Allscripts EMR, with our templates developed over the past 10 years.
- Handle behaviorally complicated patients that may be suffering from both depression and anxiety, as well as may have possible negative prior experiences with another team while trying to seek care and treatment.
- Ensure compliance with CMS patient care standards/guidelines, internal clinic policies and procedures, and best practices and report any concerns, opportunities, or process failures to reporting physician or compliance for immediate research, remediation, prevention, and reporting as necessary.
- Consult with physicians as needed according to the outlined collaborative or supervisory agreement.
- Fill intrathecal pumps, follow SCS implants, and perform minor injections such as trigger points and joint injections; (but no spinal interventional or image guided treatments).
- Ensure continuity of care by serving as a liaison between patient and other members of the multi-disciplinary care team or with other specialty areas as necessary.
- Participate in quality monitoring through the review of records and treatment plans for patient outcomes on a periodic basis to ensure quality care.
- Maintain good working relationship with other members of the patient care and support teams.
- Works autonomously as allowable under state law, under direction of supervising physician.
- Refer patients for consultation or for specialized health resources and treatment as applicable. Order testing or therapy treatment as appropriate or indicated by patient concern.
- Distill complex scientific or technical information into understandable terms when communicating to patients. Answers patient's routine questions and educates patients on specifics related to their condition(s), treatments, and related drug and treatment side effects/hazards. Educates patients on general preventive health maintenance topics (i.e. weight management, smoking, mental health, etc.). Makes basic recommendations to patients regarding aforementioned topics.

Education and/or Experience Requirements
- Masters Nurse Practitioner Degree from an accredited school REQUIRE
- Ohio APRN License and comfortable in and qualified to write class II to V controlled substances required
