Our clinical multidisciplinary approach to care delivers the correct intervention to each and every patient; each and every time through various pain management procedures including injections, open surgical cases with general anesthesia, physical therapy, and psychological services. Job Summary
American Pain Consortium is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Referral Coordinator to join our team. This role is responsible for generating referrals through relationship development with referring offices, managing incoming and outgoing patient referrals, ensuring timely and accurate processing, coordinating with providers, and maintaining clear communication with patients and referring healthcare professionals. The ideal candidate has strong administrative skills, excellent communication abilities, and experience in a healthcare setting.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities (What You’ll Do)
- Develops long-term referral relationships while achieving the highest level of customer service and satisfaction.
- Expands local physician network and manages physician outreach program.
- Meets with local practices, hospital administrators, physicians, and clinical directors to provide information on patient support and services available.
- Acts as a liaison between physicians, clinicians, and APCM associates to resolve problems, provide and obtain information, and maintain positive working relationships.
- Process and track incoming and outgoing referrals in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with referring and receiving healthcare providers to ensure seamless patient care.
- Verify insurance eligibility and obtain necessary authorizations for referred services.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Communicate with patients regarding their referral status, appointments, and required documentation.
- Work closely with physicians, clinical staff, and administrative teams to streamline referral workflows.
- Identify and resolve any barriers to the referral process, ensuring efficient patient access to care.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and company policies.
- Generate reports and track referral trends for quality improvement.

Education and/or Experience Requirements

- 1-3 years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in referrals, scheduling, or medical administration.
- Proficiency in EMR systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of insurance processes, authorizations, and medical terminology is a plus.
