Summary
We are seeking an Assistant Controller to join our finance team at American Photo Marketing, Inc. This role is crucial for supporting our financial operations and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The Assistant Controller will play a significant role in managing financial reporting and analysis to help drive our business forward.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Conduct financial analysis to support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Recruit, interview, and train new staff.
- Oversee the daily workflow of the department.
- Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations.
- Review and maintain accrued and prepaid expense items.
- Responsible for ensuring that all reconciliations of GL accounts are reconciled. Work with staff to research and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain the general ledger chart of accounts.
- Review/prepare month end closing adjustments, posting and reconciling entries, obtains/prepares month end closing.
- Maintain and improve internal controls and financial policies.
- Prepare reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analyses.
- Utilize QuickBooks accounting software for various financial reporting tasks.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- Proven experience in financial analysis and reporting.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional time management skills.
- Experience with budgeting processes and cash management techniques.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with QuickBooks or similar accounting software is a plus.
- Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite of tools.
- Familiarity with a variety of software applications and workings of APIs.
