Summary
This position will be responsible for creating, vetting and updating content on the , a consumer-facing site health information site, in addition to contributing to public relations strategies and participating in a variety of public relations activities. A member of the public relations team who implements efforts to support organizational priorities and activities within the Public Relations department. Supports unit efforts with a focus on departmental contributions to public engagement strategy for Association. Participates in and supports efforts for appointed and member volunteer groups and APTA leadership. Supports preparation of compliance requirements and documents and seeks out opportunities for continuous quality improvement in department activities. Effective champion of the Association vision, mission, and brand.
Essential Functions
- Provides support and education to members and the public on prevention, health, and wellness;
- Reviews and revises both new and existing evergreen content for APTA’s consumer information website, , and collaborates with external contributors, subject matter experts, and APTA editors to ensure appropriate review of assigned symptom and condition guides;
- Communicate complex physical therapy treatment concepts and symptoms and conditions in a manner that the average consumer will understand;
- Participates with the PR team to develop resources and strategies for public awareness campaigns, such as public service announcements, key messages, and other collateral to educate consumers about physical therapy.
- Assists in managing, conducting, and reporting on research focused on understanding perceptions of physical therapy among the public and referring providers to inform consumer awareness strategies.
- Supports the Public Affairs team in the implementation of the programs, priorities, and projects in partnership with the Association and staff colleagues;
- Prepares, in consultation with the Director, data which supports and aligns with the APTA public relations strategy.
