Position Summary
The Staff Accountant supports the accounting team with day-to-day financial operations, focusing on accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger tasks. The Staff Accountant will assist with financial reporting, reconciliations, and audit preparation while ensuring accuracy and compliance with organizational policies.
Critical Outcomes
- Timely and accurate processing of financial transactions.
- Support for month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Accurate maintenance of financial records and documentation to assist with audit compliance.
Core Responsibilities
- Assist with processing accounts receivable (AR) transactions, including posting payments, reconciling member dues, and ensuring accurate recording in the CRM system.
- Support accounts payable (AP) functions by processing invoices, verifying documentation, and ensuring timely payments.
- Help prepare and post general ledger entries for various financial transactions.
- Assist with bank reconciliations, ensuring that all transactions are accurately recorded, and discrepancies are resolved.
- Maintain and organize financial records and documentation to ensure compliance with audit requirements.
- Help prepare monthly financial reports by gathering data and assisting in variance analysis.
- Provide support during external audits by preparing requested documentation and assisting with inquiries.
- Collaborate with the accounting team to identify process improvements and contribute to streamlining financial workflows.
- Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding financial transactions and records.
- Perform ad hoc accounting tasks as assigned by the Senior Accountant or Controller.
Qualifications (Education and Experience)
- At least 2 years of experience
- Associate or bachelor's degree in accounting preferred, or a related field (or equivalent coursework).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines
- Experience with accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
