We are searching for a Buyer for our Sycamore, OH location. This position will report to the Plant Manager. This is a daily on-site role NOT remote.
- Performs all purchasing activities for the plant in accordance with current company policies and procedures
- Assists maintenance staff in sourcing activities for maintenance and repair items
- Assists corporate purchasing staff in identifying sources for components and supplies
- Analyze quotations using fundamental purchasing practices for cost/price and value analyses to select, recommend or develop most effective suppliers
- Responsible for limited pricing negotiations for those items not covered under corporate agreements
- Check/approve purchase requisitions and/or payment invoices; direct preparation of and follow-up on orders to expedite delivery/shipment as required; obtain certifications of delivery and verify against on purchase orders as needed
- Ensure supplier follows relevant procedures
- Develop and maintain necessary records of purchase, price, stock and consumption, supplier/vendor, specifications, and catalog files
- Support and communicate with other functional groups so that development work is completed timely to support project and customer needs.
- Responsible for continual cost reduction project ideation, implementation, and execution
- Supports company initiatives related to cost improvements, supply vulnerability reductions, process improvements and supply chain improvements.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested.
- Bachelor's degree with emphasis in supply and procurement, or related area, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Experience sourcing and purchasing MRO items a plus
- Must be able to work comfortably in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrate proficiency with Excel, Word, and Outlook, along with the ability to learn/use ERP system (AS400 experience is preferred).
- Minimum travel may be required
