Position Summary
The Accounting Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of the organization's financial operations. This position oversees day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and the general ledger for all APMA entities. Reporting to the Director of Finance/Controller, the Accounting Manager is a key figure in the internal control structure, ensuring segregation of duties and compliance with financial policies. This role requires a strategic, detail-oriented professional who can manage complex financial operations and contribute to continuous process improvements.

The Accounting Manager will be a key player in ensuring financial accuracy, supporting decision-making, and driving continuous improvement in financial processes.
Key Responsibilities
· Prepare and analyze comprehensive financial statements to accurately reflect the company’s financial position, ensuring compliance with GAAP and organizational policies.
· Supervise and mentor two accountants, assigning tasks, reviewing work, and providing professional development opportunities.
· Oversee bi-weekly payroll review and ensure accuracy in payroll processing.
· Prepare adjusting journal entries on a timely basis to ensure accurate financial reporting.
· Reconcile and post iMIS batches (A/R-membership system) on a timely basis.
· Ensure that bank deposits are made in a timely and accurate manner.
· Review and approve monthly bank and investment account reconciliations to ensure accurate financial reporting.
· Ensure that accounts payable (hard copy checks and EFT) are ready for review by the Director of Finance/Controller and processed weekly.
· Collaborate with the Director of Finance/Controller to ensure the timely preparation of annual audit and Form 990 schedules and information.
· Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors, facilitating a smooth audit process and, in conjunction with the Director of Finance, addressing any audit findings.
· Support financial planning efforts by assisting in the development of budgets and financial forecasts.
· Maintain and strengthen internal controls to safeguard assets, mitigate financial risks, and improve operational efficiency.
· Stay current with changes in accounting standards and best practices, ensuring compliance and efficiency in financial processes.
· Support finance leadership in strategic initiatives, special projects, and process improvements to optimize financial operations.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
· Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
· Proven experience in managing accounting teams and mentoring staff.
· Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Proficiency in accounting software and financial management systems; working knowledge of iMIS online and MS Dynamics SL is a plus.
· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to analyze and manipulate financial data effectively.
· Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
· Ability to work independently while also contributing to a team-oriented environment.
Salary : $105,000 - $115,000
