What are the responsibilities and job description for the Utility Control Manager position at American Power and Gas?
Due to expansion in our Accounts Management team, American Power & Gas is seeking a Utility Control Manager.

This is an in-house position.
Responsibilities of this position include:
- Monitor any regulatory changes that impact how we transfer data between utilities.
- Track utility system upgrades and propose recommendations to alter our system in response for an uninterrupted flow of data.
- Map new utility data into our system appropriately. Monitor the data flow accordingly. For example, if an invoice process gets shut off this post should troubleshoot immediately and work with the Development Team as needed to rectify the matter.
- Create documentation on how our file transfer back-end process is set up by working closely with the domain expert. This will serve as a knowledge Hat for the organization.
Regular cycles of this position include:
- Review Utility and EDI vendor communications regarding upcoming changes.
- Attend weekly or monthly meetings about the changes. Currently, there are 2 monthly meetings and 1 weekly supplier meeting.
- Meetings range from 20 minutes to hours long.
- Review file specs and coordinate changes with EDI staff for implementation.
- Coordinate changes with important company terminals to ensure data is known and scoped for impact.
- Regulatory, Quality Control, Accounts Management, Portfolio Management, Development, Executives, Sales Floor.
- Monitor data before, during, and after changes to ensure implementation achieves desired results. Notify the appropriate area of anomalies, outliers, or issues.
- Close out change. Types of changes may include legacy account number changes, billing changes, utility system updates, EDI vendor changes, new rule implementation (like low income in MD recently), meter changes, etc.
