Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Sales Estimator to join our team. This role is essential to our operations, as it involves preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for turnkey installation projects. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of construction estimation processes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Cost Estimation:
- Review and analyze project plans, specifications, and related documentation to develop accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for turnkey installation projects.
- Prepare detailed, itemized estimates that include labor, materials, equipment, and other costs.
- Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and ensure estimates align with project budgets and client expectations.
- Collaboration with Teams:
- Work closely with project managers, the sales team, and engineers to gather all necessary details, such as project goals, constraints, and unique client requirements.
- Ensure alignment between estimation processes and overall project objectives to maximize efficiency and profitability.
- Site Assessments:
- Conduct on-site visits to evaluate project requirements, site conditions, and potential challenges.
- Document findings to ensure all factors are considered in the estimation process and provide recommendations for optimal installation approaches.
- Supplier and Subcontractor Coordination:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to source competitive pricing and ensure high-quality standards.
- Solicit and evaluate quotes from vendors to support accurate and cost-effective estimates.
- Proposal Presentation:
- Prepare and deliver professional estimates and proposals to clients.
- Clearly communicate project scope, cost breakdowns, and value propositions to potential customers.
- Address client questions and concerns, ensuring they fully understand the project scope, pricing, and timeline.
- Bid Management:
- Track, manage, and organize all bid statuses to ensure deadlines are met.
- Participate in post-bid reviews to gather feedback and refine estimation processes for continuous improvement.
- Identify trends and patterns in bid performance to optimize future bidding strategies.
- Blueprint and Drawing Interpretation:
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to ensure estimates are based on accurate and thorough project understanding.
- Identify potential design issues that may impact installation feasibility and pricing.
- CRM and Pipeline Management:
- Use Salesforce CRM to manage sales leads, opportunities, and client interactions.
- Proactively follow up on all leads to maintain a healthy sales pipeline and maximize conversion rates.
- Provide regular updates on bid status, sales performance, and forecasting to management.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay informed about industry trends, material costs, and best practices to keep estimates competitive and current.
- Provide input on ways to improve estimation processes, accuracy, and overall project efficiency.
- Identify and implement process improvements to streamline estimating workflows.
Key Qualifications:
- Strong background in construction estimation, with experience in turnkey installations preferred.
- Ability to read and analyze blueprints and construction documents accurately.
- Proficiency with Salesforce CRM or similar tools for tracking sales and project opportunities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with clients, team members, and vendors.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously and meet strict deadlines.
- Knowledge of precast concrete construction is a plus.
