What are the responsibilities and job description for the Materials Handler position at AMERICAN PRECISION AVIONICS?
Reports To: Materials Manager
FLSA Status: Full Time, Hourly, Non-exempt
Hours: Monday through Thursday 6:00am-4:30pm
Summary: Responsible for moving all raw and finished materials around the facility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
o Work safely always
o Use appropriate PPE
o Use extra caution with sharp blades used for opening packages
o Be aware of surroundings
o Receive incoming raw materials, equipment, and all other supplies
o Perform quality checks for received items, alert department to discrepancies
o Complete receiving paperwork, and maintain IQC receiving log
o Stock items
o Put away raw materials after receipt
o Maintain FIFO and inventory accuracy
o Put away finished goods after they clear inspection
o Use heat sealer to bag finished assemblies as needed
o Kits for Production
o Pick components per FIFO
o Bag and seal kits as needed
o Distribute to production assembly floor
o Finished Goods for shipment
o Place in totes and stage for inspection
o Assist with inventory management
o Maintain accurate inventory stock location files and audit programs
o Perform cycle counts as needed
o Departmental housekeeping/ Maintain cleanliness in department
o Everything should have a designated space, put everything away
QUALIFICATIONS
o Language Skills
o Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, instructions, pick lists, packing slips, and component specifications
o Write routine reports and or correspondence
o Communicate with other shop employees
o Mathematical Skills- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
o Reasoning Ability
o Understand and use alpha numeric sequencing for organization
o Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form
o Troubleshoot problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
o Other Skills and Abilities
o Computer literate, can learn minor data entry and navigate through EVO system with work instructions.
o Use basic office machines such as copiers and printers
o Use shipping and counting scales
o Attention to detail
Education and/or Experience
o High school diploma, GED, or six months of related work experience and/or training
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
o Regularly stand, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear, walk
o Wear safety glasses
o Occasionally sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
o Regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and carry items up/down a stepladder
o Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
o Must be willing to work overtime if needed to meet APA deadlines
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
o This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
o Regular exposure to electrically and pneumatically operated moving mechanical parts
o May handle toxic or caustic chemicals in containers, exposure is limited
o Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
o Temperature is climate controlled indoors, occasionally move garbage/recyclables to dumpsters outside during all seasons
