What are the responsibilities and job description for the Reporter I or Reporter II, MPR News position at American Public Media Group?
Your Role
As a multimedia Reporter I or II for MPR News, you will report, write, and produce daily news and enterprise stories for all Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) News platforms, audio, digital, and video.
We are hiring for two positions: 1. Agriculture focus based in Moorhead, MN that will bring unique, in-depth coverage of the people and perspectives from northwest Minnesota’s rich farmland industry and culture. 2. Healthcare-focus based in the heart of Med City/Rochester, MN reporting on the patient experience, as well as the healthcare crisis and solutions in rural communities.
We are seeking a curious, dynamic reporter with a passion for telling engaging stories in any medium and an ability to break news. You will be joining a collaborative team of talented journalists who cover Minnesota from our regional bureaus located across the state. While our regional reporters cover a wide range of topics including - but not limited to - climate change impacts, the state’s energy transition, tourism, education, and politics, these two positions will serve their respective communities with general assignment and beat expertise specifically: agriculture reporting in Moorhead and healthcare reporting in Rochester. These important focus areas will deliver impactful journalism across platforms and build trusted engagement with local and statewide audiences as well. While your day-to-day work will frequently be solo and often on the road, reporters are in daily contact with their editor. You’ll need to be comfortable filing remotely and working on your own.
