What are the responsibilities and job description for the Network Security position at American Quarter Horse Association?
The purpose of the job is to safeguard information system assets by identifying and solving potential and actual security problems for the AQHA environment. This would include but is not limited to network and server hardware and software support as well as configuring and maintaining all system security policies within AQHA. To devise and develop enhanced solutions for the network and server environment and to engage in resolving technical support requests.
Responsibilities:
- Drafts and implements policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the company’s control requirements manual (CRM) or related documentation.
- Conducts risk assessments and executes tests of data processing systems to ensure proper functioning of data processing activities and security measures.
- Conducts information systems audits to ensure system information is secure from breach and unauthorized access.
- Ensures that confidential information being transmitted is appropriately encrypted.
- Adapts and updates security processes, applications, and tools to incorporate new software and correct errors.
- Conducts offsite audits to assess the efficiency and efficacy of data recovery programs.
- Ensures system security; improves server and network efficiency by training users and promoting security awareness.
- Collaborates with users to understand and support a variety of issues and needs including data access, security violations, and programming modifications.
- Coordinates and schedules the implementation of data security protocols with internal staff and outside vendors.
- Document policies, procedures, and tests related to computer security and emergency measures.
- Compiles evidence to be used in prosecuting cybercrimes, as necessary.
- Serves as a liaison to the company’s security office for local and network security issues.
- Monitor system usage to confirm that employees have the proper level of information access.
- Investigates improper use and reports violations to the Director of Information Systems.
- Ensures that the physical location of computer and related hardware is secured.
- Plans and conducts user training to provide overviews of systems security and improve mainframe efficiency.
- All other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s in computer science or Cyber security preferred
CompTIA Security Certification
IT / Technical Knowledge:
Certified Information Systems Auditor | CISA | ISACA | Global Knowledge
Certified in Risk & Information Systems Control Train Online | Global Knowledge
IT Security Certification | SSCP - Systems Security Certified Practitioner | (ISC)² (isc2.org)
Path to Entry Level Cybersecurity Certification | Associate of (ISC)² (isc2.org)
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Applications, including Office 365 and Purview
Experience:
3-5 years' experience in network security.
