Medical Clinic Volunteer (Columbus AFB)

Position: Service to Armed Forces: Military Treatment Facility Clinic Volunteer

Location: Columbus Air Force Base

Description:

This position supports the Regional SAF department. This opportunity requires participation in in-person activities and/or performing work in a Red Cross facility. Provide assistance with tasks in a clinical setting; support staff in a variety of direct and indirect patient care activities as well as enhance the morale of patients.

Duties:

Duties vary, based upon work area and may include:

• Administrative tasks such as answering phones; filing; computer/data entry; providing comfort items; craft assistance; chair/bedside assistance; info and referral
• Clinic duties may include surgical prep; runner; charting; reception; prepare patients for treatment
• Prepare welcome packets for wounded warriors
• Maintain professionalism and confidentiality

Time Commitment:

• 4 hours per shift at least 100 hours per year

Qualifications:

• Additional security clearance may be required in compliance with government regulations
• Annual training requirement in HIPAA as directed by hospital
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions; willingness to learn
• Ability to work well with others, even in stressful situations
• Basic administrative skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• Good communication, to include listening, skills
• Ability to work well with many different personality types
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies.

Training Requirements:

• Orientation to the American Red Cross
• Any required clinic/hospital orientation/training
• HIPAA training
• All appropriate In-service training as determined by supervisor
• On the job training

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: Up to $0.35 per year

Schedule:

• 4 hour shift
