Lab Technician - Level 1 (night shift)

The Lab Technician will perform tasks in the laboratory related to quality control of product and support of production in the plant. Additional tasks may be required that support the larger organization outside the plant. The Laboratory Technician is responsible for participating in the upkeep and maintenance of equipment and of the facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
.Perform tasks to verify quality of product produced in the plant, including some or all of the following:
- quality checks of rubber
- adhesion testing of rubber to metal bonds
- verifying identity of incoming materials
- performing wet chemistry testing
- performing layout on parts and product
Record and report results by:
- correctly entering data into computer systems
- generating reports from computer systems
- communicating results to customers appropriately
- communicating problems to customers and managers to contain quality issues
Maintain equipment by:
- following correct operating procedures
- performing routine maintenance and cleaning
- troubleshoot problems
- reporting issues immediately
Support the Laboratory team by:
- working overtime as needed
- working to cover vacation and sick time, on shift or off shift
- training for tasks outside their normal duties
- cleaning and maintaining the lab routinely
- Other projects, as determined based on department needs and technician interests
Education and/or Experience
High School diploma or equivalent general education degree (GED) and 1 to 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
