The faculty member shall be responsible for the following : teaching assigned classes under the supervision of the area dean; helping students fulfill their maximum potential in mastering course content; assessing student learning outcomes; maintaining a thorough and up-to-date knowledge in their regular teaching field; continuing professional development; utilizing current technology in the performance of job duties; maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position; assisting with articulation and curriculum development and review; serving on college committees and participating in faculty governance including accreditation and student co-curricular activities; assuming other responsibilities as assigned by the area dean; fulfilling other duties and responsibilities of a full-time faculty member.
The Department of Art at America River College is seeking a tenure track faculty member in Art Studio practices with an emphasis on 3-D design and Sculpture. This department provides a foundation in art principles and practices and is designed for those interested in transferring to a four-year college or university, and for someone interested in furthering their visual arts skills. The assignment will include instruction in art studio with a wide range of 3-D and 2-D studio practice courses. The successful candidate should show evidence of ability to work in many different 3-D materials and the ability to communicate instructions clearly. The primary assignment for this faculty position is 3-D design, introduction to sculpture with the desired ability to teach ceramics and experience with firing kilns. The instructor may also be required to teach basic intro to art classes such as 2-D design and Drawing and Composition. The successful candidate should also exhibit a track record of participating in programs that foster and advance equity, inclusion, and representation relevant to our diverse student population. In addition to teaching, the position requires weekly office hours, service to the department and college, attending faculty meetings, assessment of student learning and program and curriculum development.
Position Salary Information :
Initial maximum salary placement is based on academic degree, upper / graduate level units earned, and / or related professional occupational experience per the Los Rios College Federation of Teachers Contract (the initial maximum placement is Class V, Step 8).
