The Fabrication Manager plays a critical role in overseeing the operations of our metal shop, ensuring efficiency, quality, and seamless coordination between field and shop personnel. This position is responsible for managing workflow, maintaining safety and compliance, and optimizing processes to meet production goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Work Coordination & Communication:
- Serve as the primary liaison between field and shop personnel, ensuring accurate transfer of work requests.
- Provide detailed information (drawings, sketches, descriptions) to facilitate shop work.
- Communicate with other divisions to ensure timely completion of shop projects.
- Production Oversight:
- Monitor job progress, quality, and efficiency within the shop.
- Collaborate with division managers to prioritize and schedule shop work based on delivery timelines and urgency.
- Maintain an up-to-date status report on jobs in progress and provide weekly updates.
- Equipment & Facility Management:
- Oversee maintenance and adjustments of pan former machines in coordination with technicians and field teams.
- Maintain a well-organized, clean, and safe shop environment.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Enforce shop safety protocols and ensure compliance with all safety regulations.
- Maintain safety training records and conduct regular equipment inspections.
- Inventory Management:
- Quote, order, and manage inventory for shop materials.
- Team Leadership & Development:
- Supervise and mentor shop personnel, fostering a culture of accountability and efficiency.
- Conduct annual performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback to improve team performance.
- Other Duties as Assigned
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience preferred; equivalent experience in fabrication or shop leadership will be considered.
- Strong understanding of fabrication, metalworking, or construction processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to leverage technology and software to streamline operations and improve processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Strong knowledge of CAD software and ability to interpret shop drawings.
