Position Overview :
A Safety assistant's role is to support and assist in implementing and maintaining safety programs within an organization. You will work closely with the Safety Director to ensure a safe working environment, typically by helping with training and inspections.
Key responsibilities include:
- Enforce the use of safety practices as required by OSHA and American Roofing safety requirements
- Inspect worksites frequently, noting potential hazards while working with teammates to help prevent future incidents.
- In the event of an incident, assist the Safety Director with the proper investigation required and documentation to be completed.
- Assist in obtaining Road closure permits
- Direct or assist building scaffolding towers.
- Assist Safety Director in counseling to team members and subcontractors who are in non-compliance with safety requirements.
- Conduct daily safety huddles with Safety Director.
- Create, Communicate ,implement and enforce American Roofing's safety plans on job sites.
- Manage Safety Equipment Check out
Experience:
- Construction safety experience: Fall protection/Scaffolding is highly preferred
- Experience in commercial construction is a must
- Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office.
- Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing
- Should be energetic, self-motivated, organized, and team-oriented.
