What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mgr, Payment Services position at American Savings Bank?
Primary Purpose of Job
Oversees the back-office payment functions for wire transfers and ACH functions while ensuring compliance with applicable policies, procedures, NACHA Operating Guidelines, and federal and state banking regulations. Partners with others across the organization to drive payment related projects and initiatives and influences the timeline and service expectations for customer payment delivery.
Major Job Accountabilities
- Demonstrates effective leadership and development of the Payment Services team and oversees the day-to-day operations of ACH and Wire Services ensuring daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines are met.
- Serves as the contact for ACH and wire transfer audits and examinations while maintaining professional interactions with bank personnel and external auditors.
- Responds to audit findings and ensures that operations are within all applicable regulations and guidelines.
- Evaluates emerging payment options, including risk, and how payment systems will be used to support future goals.
- Builds strategic partnerships with stakeholders across the organization to execute projects and advises on enterprise projects and payment related initiatives.
- Keeps abreast of rules and regulations to maintain proficient knowledge and awareness of regulatory developments and Payment Industry trends.
- Evaluates, recommends and implements operational changes and enhancements to improve accuracy, efficiency and customer experience.
- Prepares budget and departmental reports including the development and continuous improvement of reporting and dashboards that summarizes key payments metrics to support management decisions on an ongoing basis, understand payment-specific trends and identify opportunities.
- Participates in managing relationships with vendors and service providers to ensure all parties are working together so that system and equipment performance meets service expectations and supports strategic goals.
- Participates in the development, implementation, and maintenance of a business continuity/disaster recovery plan to support Payment Services.
Experience Required
- Five (5)years of relevant payment and operations experience, required.
- Managerial/supervisory experience, preferred.
Required Skills or Training
- Detail oriented and deadline driven, with the ability to prioritize, focus, and thrive in a high paced environment.
- Excellent organizational, conceptual, listening, presentation, training and coaching skills, and verbal/written communication skills.
- Familiar with faster payments and real time payment methodology.
- Must be able to organize, perform complex analysis, conceptualize new ideas, interpret applicable laws and regulations and other technical matters, solve complex problems and make sound decisions.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong relationship management and ability to navigate the complexities of gaining buy-in, building consensus and resolving conflicts.
- Leadership coordination across multi-business unit stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of the payments industry and payment operations with demonstrated ability to recommend and implement changes.
- Professional Certifications, Licenses, And/or Registration Requirements
- Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) Certification preferred.
