What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mgr, Server Administration position at American Savings Bank?
Primary Purpose of Job
Manages and directs a team of server administrators to install, patch, configure, customize, troubleshoot, upgrade, integrate, and maintain systems, software, port configuration, host-based firewalls, and peripherals.
Major Job Accountabilities
- Manages the Server Administrators in reviewing and monitoring systems for availability, error conditions, adequate space allocation, backup integrity, and performance to ensure system stability.
- Take part in the design, architecture, evaluation, implementation, and maintenance of technology projects. Collaborates with teammates and vendors to evaluate technology needs and leads project efforts to successfully complete implementation plans within defined timelines. Offers technical expertise, as needed, and participates in evaluations, planning and installations.
- Responsible for system administration, set-up, configuration changes, installation of upgrades, enhancements, and patch management. Responsible for the daily operations, production outages and health of all systems.
- Reviews server infrastructure and takes proactive measures to ensure continued stability. Ensures backup strategies and disaster recovery time objectives are met.
- Contributes to research and evaluation of new enterprise technologies, processes, and upgrades to Windows infrastructure.
- Develops and documents operational processes and procedures. Research recommendations or solutions for upgrades, improvements, and strategies to ensure a stable, available and protected technical infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures for the server team’s areas of responsibility, and that they adhere to our security standards.
- Responsible for the teams annual budget which includes existing and future services, along with hardware and maintenance costs
Experience Required
Minimum 5years of experience
- Infrastructure technologies
- Server/storage support
- Supervisory experience is preferred
Required Skills or Training
- Extensive knowledge of server hardware and Microsoft server operating systems.
- Thorough knowledge SAN/storage provisioning and Windows deployment tools.
- Demonstrated understanding of privacy and information security regulations.
- Able to prioritize multiple assignments and complete work within tight deadlines.
- Highly proficient analytical skills and technical knowledge necessary for developing written procedures and/or processes.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with a broad audience.
- Working knowledge of cloud technologies
