Vault Services Specialist I

Primary Purpose of Job

Performs high-dollar and high-transaction operations functions, provides efficient and accurate transaction processing for Central Cash Vault (CCV).  Performs various duties for all cash processing sections, including answering phone calls and receiving armored car deliveries.

Major Job Accountabilities

• Processes customer deposits, verifies large-dollar incoming and outgoing currency and coin shipments, prepares merchant change orders, and maintains and balances a teller cash can and the main CCV vault. Prepares General Ledger entries and customer debit advices. 
• Maintains and balances records relating to high- volume incoming and outgoing cash shipments and customer deposits, ensuring that all items received at CCV are processed and accounted for. Performs record retention and trash disposal.
• Receives and signs for high-volume and large-dollar armored car deliveries and delivers the shipments to the appropriate processing area. Resolves out-of-balance conditions and shipment discrepancies for customer deposits.  Verifies and straps large-dollar incoming and outgoing currency and coin shipments.
• Ensures all negotiable instruments received for deposit indicates information necessary to process the item and makes subsequent redemptions if necessary up, to the Vault Services Specialist’s designated limits. Obtains approvals for large-dollar items above their limits.  
• Reviews reconciliation sheets, answers phone, and assists branches and departments with research.
• Work is performed in an enclosed environment.
• May be required to work evening and night hours, occasionally works more than 40 hours per week.

Experience Required

• One (1) year of cash handling experience in a retail environment or equivalent work experience.  Teller or vault experience in a financial institution is preferred.
• One (1) year of clerical work with data entry experience is preferred.

Required Skills or Training

• Excellent attention to detail and able to work in a fast-paced, high-risk environment with high levels of security.
• Works effectively and efficiently to meet critical deadlines and process high transaction counts containing large cash amounts.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with management, branch and department teammates, customers, and armored car vendors on a daily basis.  
• Must be able to meet the physical demands of standing for long periods of time and lifting up to 40lbs on an intermittent basis.
• Experience with Microsoft Office is a plus.
