The American School for the Deaf (ASD) is the oldest school for the deaf, founded in 1817 by Thomas Hopkins Gallaudet and Laurent Clerc. The American School for the Deaf is committed to serving deaf and hard of hearing infants, youth, and their families in development of intellect and the enhancement of quality of life utilizing specially designed instruction through an American Sign Language and English Bilingual Approach, empowering them to become educated and self-directed life-long learners.
ASD is located in West Hartford, a town recognized as one of the top ten towns for raising families. West Hartford residents value education, evidenced by the high quality of public and private schools. There is also much to do in West Hartford. There is a wide array of parks and recreation. SCOPE OF DUTIES
Summary : The HVAC Technician will install, repair, and maintain heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
PRIMARY DUTIES
- Installs new HVAC units in residential, commercial, or industrial buildings.
- Installs ductwork and thermostats to control HVAC system.
- Performs routine maintenance on HVAC systems to ensure they operate properly.
- Inspects and troubleshoots problems with existing HVAC units.
- Installs replacement parts on existing HVAC units.
- Maintains inventory of replacement parts and orders replacements.
- Complies with company and industry safety standards.
- Manage filter cleaning and changes as per schedule.
- Responsible for remote control of the system.
- Expected to respond after-hours and weekends to any on-premises needs.
- Will perform other facilities duties like setups / snow removal
- Will support both ASD campus in West Hartford, CT and Camp Isola Bella in Salisbury, CT; expected to make weekly trips to Camp in Salisbury for maintenance needs of those systems.
- Is a full member of the Maintenance team and is expected to perform other related duties as assigned including conference room table and chair set-ups, snow removal, etc.
- Responsible for remote control of existing Building Management System (BMS).
