TITLE: Environmental, Health & Safety Intern
REPORTS TO: EHS Manager
DEPARTMENT: Production Management
EXEMPTION STATUS: Seasonal, Hourly, Non-Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for aiding in facilitating the Company's safety and environmental programs, including adherence to safety and environmental laws and regulations.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Aides in development and implementation of plant environmental, health and safety programs.
- Aides in developing and implementing safety practices, procedures, and policies.
- Pursuing a relevant degree, preferably in occupational safety and health.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Ability to research all pertinent safety laws and regulations (MIOSHA, OSHA, DEQ, EPA, DOT, etc.).
- Interpersonal skills required to interact effectively with unions, federal, state, local and insurance inspectors, and corporate management and employees.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Microsoft Office
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Office and manufacturing environment. May be some mild discomfort due to heat, dust, noise, and the like.
- Keyboarding is occasionally required. Lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying up to 50 pounds may be required.
- Work frequently requires attention to details. Frequent pressures related to meeting deadlines, scheduling requirements and simultaneous projects are required. Work is frequently affected by distracting influences such as people, telephone calls, etc.
