Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Spanish Interpreter to facilitate communication between Spanish-speaking individuals and English-speaking professionals in various settings, including hospitals and child protective services. The ideal candidate will possess strong bilingual skills, a deep understanding of medical terminology, and the ability to accurately interpret and translate spoken and written communications while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
Duties
- Provide accurate interpretation services for Spanish-speaking patients and clients in medical, legal, and social service environments.
- Translate documents and materials as needed to ensure clear communication between parties.
- Review documentation for accuracy and completeness before interpretation sessions.
- Maintain confidentiality of all communications in compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, social workers, and other professionals to facilitate effective communication.
- Utilize American Sign Language as necessary to accommodate diverse communication needs.
- Ensure cultural sensitivity and understanding during all interactions.
Qualifications
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is required; additional languages are a plus.
- Experience in medical terminology is preferred, particularly within hospital settings.
- Knowledge of child protective services processes is advantageous.
- Strong documentation review skills to ensure accuracy in translated materials.
- Ability to interpret spoken language fluently while maintaining the original message's intent.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality is essential.
- Previous experience as an interpreter or in a related field is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
