The County of Sacramento, Department of Airports (SCDA) is seeking a Principal Engineer / Architect. In this position, you will be at the forefront of major airport improvement projects, guiding the planning, design, construction, and management of infrastructure including but not limited to buildings and other structures; streets, sewer, water, and drainage pipeline systems; water supply; and site improvements.
The Principal Engineer / Architect is a comprehensive role that is a management-level position requiring a deep understanding of engineering and architectural principles. You will be responsible for overseeing a wide range of activities, including environmental documentation, contract administration, site suitability studies, inspections, and project funding. Your expertise will ensure that our projects meet all regulatory requirements while delivering exceptional results for the community.
Required Education and Experience
- Current possession of a valid certificate of registration as an engineer or architect in the State of California.
- Four years of full-time experience in Sacramento County in the class of Associate Civil Engineer, Associate Mechanical Engineer, Associate Electrical Engineer, Associate Engineer / Architect or higher, or in the class of Senior Instrumentation and Control Systems Engineer.
- A Master’s Degree in an engineering discipline or in architecture may be substituted for one year of this experience.
- Current possession of a valid certificate of registration as an Engineer or Architect in the State of California.
- Four years of full-time experience as a registered Engineer or Architect performing duties which have included difficult and complex engineering or architectural projects. The projects must have provided significant involvement with budget preparation or monitoring of project expenditures; principles and techniques of human resources management and supervision; Federal, State, and local laws, ordinances, and regulations pertaining to the programs and their funding; and interface with other coordinating organizations and regulatory jurisdictions.
- A Master’s Degree in an engineering discipline or in architecture may be substituted for one year of this experience.
Salary & Benefits
The County of Sacramento offers an excellent compensation and benefits program. The salary range for this position is $160,734 - $177,208 annually plus an additional 3.35% management incentive.
