What are the responsibilities and job description for the Economics Internship position at American Soybean Association?
The American Soybean Association (ASA) is seeking an intern in the economics department for the summer of 2025. ASA represents almost 500,000 U.S. soybean farmers on domestic and international policy issues important to the soybean industry and has 26 affiliated state associations representing 30 soybean-producing states.
This internship is designed to provide an economics student with experience in policy and market analysis. The student will assist the economics staff in conducting analysis and providing economic materials for the organization. It is intended that the position will interact with ASA staff in St. Louis and Washington, D.C., board members and various stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Conduct a summer research project
- Assist with economic and data analysis to support efforts in the economics department
- Compile charts, documents and presentations to provide market information and policy analysis
- Attend relevant meetings with staff, economists, board members and state associations
- Travel as necessary for meetings or conferences
Qualifications
- Undergraduate Junior or Senior, or Master’s student
- Obtained or pursuing degree in Agricultural Economics, Economics, Statistics or another relevant field
- Ability to communicate and interact with various groups
- Strong ability to conduct data analysis
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office at a minimum
Requirements
- Work from ASA office in St. Louis, Missouri (several local colleges offer affordable summer housing)
- Ability to travel
Additional information
- Pay is dependent on experience and will be an hourly rate.
- Benefits are not provided.
- The start and end date are flexible within the summer of 2025, but the internship length would be approximately nine to ten weeks.
