Manager of Government Affairs, Regulatory Policy
The American Soybean Association’s Government Affairs team in Washington D.C. is seeking a government affairs manager to contribute to its regulatory policy portfolio, which includes pesticides, biotechnology, science- and risk-based regulation among other issues.
This government affairs manager will assist with federal advocacy execution, collaborate across ASA functions and with state affiliates, communicate with ASA industry partners on regulatory policy matters, and build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Under the direction of the senior director of government affairs for regulatory policy, this position will provide support on regulatory policy advocacy efforts, including drafting public comments and letters; engaging with regulators, lawmakers, and their staff; and assisting with the development of advocacy materials.
The American Soybean Association is a national trade association that advocates on behalf of all U.S. soybean farmers on domestic and international trade issues. It is the collective voice of nearly 500,000 producers in 30 soybean-producing states represented by 26 state affiliates. ASA is headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, and its Government Affairs team is based in Washington, D.C.

What we need:
- Experience (2-5 years) working on legislative or regulatory matters, including an understanding of pesticide, biotechnology, or other technical agricultural policy areas.
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Political Science, Government, or other relevant field preferred.
- Strong communication, spoken, written, and listening skills.
- Strong organizational and collaborative skills.
- Ability to learn and work independently and proactively, while accepting guidance from other team members.

- Position requires up to 15% travel.
