As an Item Master Specialist, you will be responsible for the creation and management of item IDs, production bills of materials, and production routings through the completion of the following duties and responsibilities :
- Create and manage item IDs, bills of materials, and production routings ensuring such meet American Pipe & Vessel and American SpiralWeld Pipe standards, specification requirements, quote and drawing details, etc.
- Implements and maintains product data in JD Edwards to support business activities.
- Create and manage purchase orders for raw materials, MRO items, etc.
- Conduct weekly MRP review meeting to advise of required purchases to buyers with all manufacturing plants.
- Review all Early Order Material List s (EOML) as submitted by project managers.
- Review specification boundaries to identify materials that may be already on site for consumption before placing orders based on EOML.
- Participate in each physical inventory.
- Balance out material and inventory as production changes.
- Work with production planners to understand production plans to ensure materials are on site on time and report when deliveries do not support such.
- Develop the required specifications and implement procedures for changes and additions to our business activities related to product data to support these changes.
- Work with manufacturing to maintain current time studies, maintain standard hours for operations, and update product data in corporate computer systems.
- Work with Information Technology, Cost Accounting, Supply Chain, Project Management, and shop personnel to implement changes or business practices as required.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement events.
- Provide knowledge and information regarding products to Project Coordinators, PPIM, and Supply Chain.
- Create and / or approve engineering change requests.
- Write technical notes and procedures to document and train employees on products, processes, or business details.
- Locate, isolate, and analyze detailed system problems associated with product engineering data and related activities to include but not be limited to work centers, routes, product structures, standards, planner codes, make / buy flags, inventory adjustments for duplicate items, problems at warehouses, etc.
- Follow all safety and job specific procedures.
- Keep work areas clean and orderly.
- Know safety rules that apply to the safety of others and to personal safety.
- Report malfunction of equipment to proper authority.
- Perform similar work for other divisions as instructed by supervision.
- Perform other work as instructed by supervision.
- Travel to branch plants as required and approved / directed by supervision.
- Adhere, support, and strictly follow Company, quality, and environmental standards and directives while performing job duties for the protection of themselves and others.
